For Catholic Day tomorrow, we are allowed to come in Mufti. 

I would like to congratulate all students on a great job as our class managed to get 100% of our kids getting the green tick on Math Whizz.

Welcome to Week 10 Term 3

September 26, 2021

Kia ora parents and whānau, congratulations on making it to the last week of term! 

It has been a whirlwind of a term with lockdown and everyone has done a tremendous job getting to the end happily and safely. Thank you again for giving our students supportive and loving homes, the adjustment make to school was made a lot easier thanks to that. 

Thank you to all parents for your support with our babysitting activity. The students had so much fun and lots of tears when their babies didn't make it. We have started a science experiment with the living eggs.

In maths this term, we had a focus on geometry and fractions. Here is some translation art that some of our fantastic tamariki completed. 

Things on this week: 
Monday - Principals Morning Tea. Congratulations to those students who were chosen!

Tuesday - STEAM EXTRAVAGANZA and Library. 

Wednesday - Catholic Schools Day 

Thursday -

•  Library - Students took home the list of outstanding books they have at home. New books will be sent home so they have some during the break.
•  Girls 7's Year 3/4 against St. Micheals at St Marys, No spectators (sorry) 
•  St Vincent De Paul Liturgy 

Friday - Golden Time, holidays start!!

Important messages from Mr Macmillan and Mrs Cato:

Last week all Year 0-5 students should have brought home a letter inviting parents to provide some information for consideration re the 2022 class placement of their child. A copy of the letter and form is here. Please note if you have more than one child at school we want you to complete a form for each child. 

Reminder: The final day for these forms to be returned is Friday 1 October. Due to Covid Level 2 restrictions, we suggest the form is returned to the Class Teacher who will then pass it on to the School Office.

Catholic Schools Day is about celebrating our unique Catholic Character, in faith, excellence and service. It is another opportunity to celebrate the taonga of Catholic Education for which we are kaitiaki. The theme for Catholic Schools Day, 2021 is Tūrangawaewae: Catholic Schools – A Place to Stand

Our annual Athletics Day will take place on Monday, November 8th. Please click on the form below to help us organise the event.

PTA raffle books are being sent home on Friday with students please help the PTA and sell your tickets and return them as soon as possible in Term 4.

Eggcellent babysitters

 Well, there were multiple deaths overnight. Here are the surviving eggs and their homes.

Egg-Tastic Babysitters

 Today the kids embarked on a challenge to look after their egg-babies until Friday at Golden Time. If they are able to care for them until 2:00pm on Friday there is a big prize to win.

The Rules:

1. Children are responsible for their eggs

2.  Eggs are not to be hard-boiled.

2. Eggs are to remain with their parent (your child)
at all times, if they can't take care of them they need to talk to someone who is responsible to look after their egg.

3. The egg is to come home and back to school each day to be eligible. 

4. Kids can create beds, homes, names and draw on their egg. 

5. If they break their egg they can bring another egg, too participate but are out of the ultimate prize.

Keeping it safe - Egg Babysitters

 Dear parents,

As part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) programme, the children are going to become chief babysitters for an egg! Yes – an egg! It is not allowed to be boiled, by the way.

The aim of this activity is for the children to learn to look after themselves and others – a theme that is woven through the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme.

The children will be responsible for the egg for ___3__ days and will have to care for the egg at all times. 

The children can name their egg and create a bed (bassinet) for it. If the children want to leave their egg, they have to engage another person to egg-sit! If the child’s egg breaks, the challenge ends. They are not allowed to replace it. 

Hopefully, the children will get an appreciation of the hard work you do as parents!

Week 9 Notices

Tena Koutou everyone and welcome to our second to last week of school. Our first full week at school was spent with activities celebrating Maori Language week. It is so good to see the kids giving it a try and taking part in the different activities. 

As we are still at Level 2 we are still encouraging that our kids sanitize before they come into class. Please ensure they bring in a drink bottle as water fountains are still out of bounds. Thank you very much for your support in this.

Last Friday, some kids came with some fabulous wigs to wear for the day. The school managed to fundraise $580 to go towards the Cancer Society. What a fabulous effort.

Catholic Schools Day 29th September.  Students have a 'uniform pass' on this day so they can wear mufti, no gold coin needed. We have a variety of activities planned depending on what level we are in.

We’ve been back at school for two days and things have seemed to go quite smoothly. Thank you all for helping us make the transition back to school. Children seemed to be very excited with their return to school and back to some normality for them. Just a quick reminder that children are to take all rubbish home in their lunches and that chormebooks need to be charged.

The children have been good with hand sanitizing and washing down of surfaces.

This week is Maori Language Week: "Kia kaha te Reo Māori" - Make the Māori language

strong. We will be doing some fun activities around Maori language.

Our library is on Thursday please remind your child to bring back their books.

 Friday is ‘Wig Day’ please bring a wig and a gold coin donation all proceeds go towards Kids Cancer.

If your child is interested in any sport please enroll them to ensure they get on a team.
